Design for the Future

Squarepeg. Design primarily focuses on Neuroinclusive Design.  A new and progressive thinking behind how we design inclusive spaces that allow people feel comfortable in the environment for which they occupy at any given time.

To allow people to be themselves, to be a space without being ostracised or made to feel different purely because of how space and people are interpreted.

My studies and research into Neurodiversity and the Built Environment led to challenging mainstream design, for my conclusion considers many spaces are not designed to meet the  sensory stimuli of Neurodivergent individuals who use our spaces.  This equates to between 20% and 25% of our population.

Designing for the minority improves spaces for the majority.

Our Design Philosophy

Squarepeg. Design is about creating spaces that are inclusive for all.  Neurodiversity, Disability, Race, Gender, Age and Religion.

As people we are more informed about our differences and how we fit into society.  Our spaces need to reflect a more informed social model of how people interpret the built environment.

Squarepeg. Design is about creating spaces that are inclusive for all.  Neurodiversity, Disability, Race, Gender, Age and Religion.

As people we are more informed about our differences and how we fit into society.  Our spaces need to reflect a more informed social model of how people interpret the built environment.

Whether it's the office layout, or way finding in public spaces and so on, Squarepeg. Design understands the obstacles and differences that minority groups encounter.  Thus consulting with design teams/stakeholders  to accomplish the most favourable design for all to enjoy.

Research continues into this emerging field of design.

Catherine is proud to represent Neuroinclusion on the Inclusive Panel for RIBA's House of Architecture.

Only through talking and understanding lived experiences and building on research, we together can create functional, productive and sustainable spaces for everyone.
